About the Scholarship Foundation
Our Foundation History
The GEP3 Scholarship Foundation was created in 2024 in remembrance of our son Glenn Edward Porter III, whom we lost after a tragic automobile accident while on our way to vacation in Delaware. At the time of the accident, Glenn had just graduated to become a police officer and accepted a full-time position with a local police department, California Borough. He was eager to start his career in law enforcement following in the footsteps of many of his family members. His life dream was to positively impact the community while helping others, which is now the mission statement of the foundation. The foundation will help accomplish this by helping to further the education of individuals looking to achieve the same or comparable goals. Our son Glenn had such a positive impact on everyone around him.
Our 2025 Goals
The foundation's goals for 2025 include the following:
- $3,000 scholarship to two candidates upon the completion of their Act 120 Certification from a local police academy
- $500 Scholarship for two Charleroi High School seniors looking to continue their education to help others
- Additional community outreach through helping local families who were affected by someone lost in the line of duty
- Support local high school sports programs.
Our Mission
Glenn always pushed to do his absolute best in everything he did. He demonstrated this through his excellent work ethic, ability to overcome adversity, and the simple fact that he made those around him smile without trying by being his goofy self. We will seek these qualifications from the individuals who would receive the scholarships. These scholarships will help these individuals have the chance to develop confidence, responsibility, and additional skills needed to become successful in their future and achieve their dreams. The dreams will include becoming a law enforcement officer, a paramedic, an EMT, a nurse, a firefighter, or any other rewarding career that allows one to help others in need.
